What a fantastic evening at the Rotary Youth Speaks Debate Competition! We were incredibly proud to enter two SNHS teams, each showcasing confidence, maturity and exceptional oracy skills.
Our students tackled thought‑provoking topics including:
Should devices come with built‑in parental protection?
Should legal responsibility for children’s actions lie with the child or the parent?
Every speaker demonstrated remarkable enunciation, clarity and control, using pace, tone and emphasis to bring their arguments to life. Their ability to speak with precision, structure their ideas, challenge viewpoints respectfully, and engage the audience showed genuine debating discipline and real command of oracy.
We are delighted with their performances and incredibly proud of how they represented Sturminster Newton High School. Well done to all involved – a brilliant night celebrating student voice, courage and character.
